Securing Sound Logistical Performance and Coordination at Somalia Mission Level in order to provide programs with optimum support.

Action Against Hunger Somalia is looking for a suitable candidate to fill the position of Head of Logistics Department (Somalia), based in 50% Nairobi and 50% Somalia. The role reports hierarchically to the country Director or Deputy Country director Support & technically to the Logistics Advisor in HQ.


  • Contribute to the definition of mission strategy.
  • Collaborate with headquarters in the management of international procurement and transport.
  • Coordinate logistics at national level.
  • Contribute in preparing and implementing security policy for the country operations .
  • Promote and ensure collaboration and coordination in logistics with the mission's partners.
  • Prevent and manage fraud and corruption.
  • Manage the Logistics team in capital and be support/technical Manager for Logistics Manager in the bases.


You’ve broad experience in humanitarian logistics

  • You have a Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Purchasing and Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering or a related field. Masters degree in related field is preferred.
  • You have 5 years of experience in humanitarian Logistics management, out of which at least 3 years in a senior management / coordination role.
  • You are able to demonstrate excellent logistics capacity assessment skills and articulate clear and comprehensive security analysis
  • You have excellent English and Somali language skills (Oral and Written).
  • Readiness for frequent travel to Somalia.
  • Experience in supporting a mission in Somalia is preferred and an added advantage.

  • You are able to work autonomously and arrive at decisions and conclusions with minimal guidance.
  • You have knowledge and adherence to Humanitarian Code of Conduct
