Relief, Reconstruction and Development Organization (RRDO) is a Kenyan National NGO registered under the NGO Coordination Act 1990 with its head office in Nairobi and Field Office in Dadaab. RRDO is currently implementing an Integrated Environment Energy and Host Community Social Infrastructure Projects in Dadaab with funding from UNHCR.

We are looking for a highly motivated, result oriented and proactive Kenyan National to fill the vacant position below in our branch office in Dadaab

Tasks and Responsibilities

. Develop Construction designs and costed BQs for infrastructure projects.

· Carry out renovation assessments of structures/buildings

· Prepare tender specifications for the supply and/or maintenance of the facilities and its equipment relative to the areas and projects of responsibility.

· Plan and follow up and give technical support and assistance to external contractors

· Supervise the contractor’s site construction activities and ensure that works are performed promptly and as per drawings, technical specification and high quality standard

· Inspect sites and recommend solutions to routine as well as unusual technical problems

· Produce timely and quality construction progress reports

Qualifications, experience and skills

· Diploma or B.Sc. degree in Civil or Building or Construction Engineering

· A minimum of two years’ relevant engineering experience

· Ability to use computer software such as MS Word, MS Excel, Powerpoint

· Knowledge and experience of using AutoCAD

· Construction work supervisory experience in building/civil construction or maintenance and repair, supplemented by similar capacity.

Critical and Essential Skills

· Good analytical skills;

· Resourcefulness, initiative, maturity of judgment, tact, negotiating skills;

· Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing;

· Ability to work in a team and establish effective working relations with persons of different national and cultural backgrounds

· Posses cultural awareness and sensitivity, be flexible and demonstrate sound professional and work ethics.

· Previous experience in a UNHCR funded project in Dadaab will be a plus.

Language: Fluency in written and oral English and Swahili
