The University of Maryland Baltimore School of Medicine, through its operating arm Maryland Global Initiatives Corporation (MGIC) Kenya implements comprehensive HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment programs to facilitate the Ministry of Health in Kenya to control the spread of HIV and rapidly scale up HIV services, institute continuous quality improvement methods as well as the M & E infrastructure necessary to support these services.

MGIC Kenya is seeking suitably qualified persons able to fill the following positions.

1. Position : MAT Pharmaceutical Technologist

Location : Nairobi, Kenya.


The primary function for this position is to manage a Medically Assisted Therapy (MAT) pharmacy, and coordinate all activities of stock and inventory management pertaining to MAT and other related drugs for the MAT site.


  1. Ensure good store keeping for pharmacy drugs, prepare and manage pharmacy inventory.

  2. Be part of the MAT clinical eligibility committee to set and periodically evaluate annual department goals

  3. Develop, review and regularly update the standard operating procedures manual for administration and distribution of Methadone.

  4. Member of the MAT facility drugs and therapeutics committee (TDC).

  5. Together with other TDC members, review and regularly update the MAT facility on medicines.

  6. Give the MAT clinical team updates on the availability of drugs

  7. Dispense methadone, ART DOT, and OI drugs to patients in the MAT program

  8. Perform any reasonable work related duties as may be assigned from time to time.

  9. Following appropriate education participate in counseling of patients taking methadone and ARVs in order to promote adherence with prescribed regimen

  10. Prepare site monthly pharmacy reports.


· Diploma in Pharmacy

· Certified by the Kenya Pharmacy and Poisons Board

· 1-3 years’ work experience in a busy CCC

· Prior working experience in a MAT clinic preferable
