Over the past 16 years, FilmAid has served displaced populations and their host communities in Kenya, Tanzania, Macedonia, Afghanistan, US Gulf Coast, Haiti and the Thai/Myanmar border.

FilmAid designs and implements communications initiatives on critical health, protection and environmental issues. FilmAid’s Theory-Of-Change is based on the integration of access, creativity and participation, which drive individual and community change, contributing to positive social impact. Underpinning this approach is collaboration; working together is fundamental to achieving change. FilmAid partners with communities, creators, NGOs, Governments, and the private sector to ensure a collaborative approach to this end.

Specific Tasks:

  • Help develop initial concept into a fully planned production by ensuring that the film’s artistic, dramatic and messaging aspects are realized.
  • Guide the entire technical crew and actors to ensure that the key vision of the drama is achieved.
  • Work closely with the Editor to review rushes and ensure timely delivery of a director’s cut as per the given deadline.

Requirements

  • Should have a strong creative mind in storytelling.
  • Considerable industry experience as a director.
  • Proven work experience in directing NGO films and working in hardship areas.
  • Proven technical know- how of the creative process and requirements of making a film.
  • Should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills so as to ensure smooth running during the entire production process.
  • Ability to work intensively and passionately for long hours.
  • Ability to remain calm while under pressure.
  • Ability to train crew members on set.
  • Ability to motivate the team to produce the best possible results within the stipulated time.
  • Ability to work with a set production budget.
