The RH, MNCH/ Community technical lead is responsible for providing technical support and oversight to all AFYA JIJINI clinical mentorship, OJT and CMEs sessions and Community Maternal new born and child health and FP programs through planning, execution, monitoring, documentation and reporting of mentorship and community MNCH activities. Support Afya JIJINI in community strategy and capacity building quality assurance.

Duties and Responsibilities

Training

  1. Develop/Adapt a structured Mentorship/OJT program for HCWs

  2. Coordinate the planning of capacity building through mentorship, OJT and CMEs activities with cluster team leaders, technical advisors, program officers of AFYA JIJINI and County health team

  3. Facilitate MNCH, FP mentorship, OJT and CMEs at the Sub County and Community level.

  4. Coordinate clinical t mentorship, coaching, OJT, CMEs and refresher courses for health workers and community health workers at Sub County level and Community level

  5. Coordinate meetings for WITs in all the high volume facilities

  6. Coordinate and Participate in MPDSR meetings in the high volume maternities

  7. Work closely with HRH advisor to ensure that capacity building data is entered into IHRIS data base for access by USAID, County heath team and other partners

  8. Ensure that all capacity building reports and documentation are developed and submitted in time

  9. Bi weekly progress reporting on all mentorship program ,OJT, CMEs and MPDSR

Community MNCH

  1. Coordinate all Community MNCH,FP activities in Afya Jijini supported informal settlements
  2. Participate in the formation of Community Health Committees and Community MPDSR Committees in the Afya Jijini supported informal settlement
  3. Coordinate Verbal Autopsy at community level.
  4. Work closely with C/SCHMT community focal person in supervision of Community MNCH,FP activities in the informal settlements.
  5. Support project Linkages officer in effective community- facility linkages
  6. Bi weekly report on CHVs activities in the community
  7. Coordinate and participate in Home visits with CHVs
  8. Work closely with CHAs in the Afya Jijini supported informal settlement on a day to day basis for smooth running of community activities
  9. Coordinate and participate in community data review meeting
  10. Initiate and strengthen MNCH,FP QI activities at community level
  11. Initiate/Strengthen AYSRH/SGBV activities at community level
  12. Any other duty as may be delegated to me by my supervisor

To succeed in this role you require :

Key Technical Skills and Knowledge

  1. Nursing /medical qualification (Diploma or Degree)

  2. Master’s in Public health( MPH) added advantage

  3. At least 3-5 years’ experience in successful field implementation of RH/FP programs in Kenya

  4. Demonstrated skills in designing and rolling out GoK-endorsed approaches that result in improved uptake of services for family planning, reproductive health and maternal health

  5. Strong writing skills, including writing of reports ; Clinical training skills ( CTS) added advantage

  6. Demonstrate a strong experience of Community strategy

  7. Ability to work in a complex environment with multiple tasks, short deadlines and intense pressure to perform; ability to manage several major multidimensional activities simultaneously.

  8. Ability to travel extensively to supported sites.

  9. Ability to recognize limitations and seek appropriate expert advice
