BIMAS Accounts Assistant Job in Embu, Kenya

BIMAS Kenya Limited, a leading microfinance institution in the country seeks to recruit capable and result oriented individuals to fill the following position
 

Position: Accounts Assistant

Reports To:

Finance Manager

Duty Station: Embu (Head Office)

Overall Responsibility: To ensure financial transactions are accurately and completely recorded on a timely basis

 

Duties / Roles

  1. Maintaining cashbooks
  2. Reconcile cashbooks with bank statements and forward any reconciling items in time
  3. Processing of various payments to BIMAS clients and other suppliers
  4. Reconciliation of general ledgers
  5. Process, remit and prepare returns of statutory deductions on time
  6. Make all the necessary preparations for the External audits

Requirements for Appointment

  • CPA II or degree 
  • Proficiency in computer applications;
  • Experience in the finance sector will be an added advantage

Qualifications for the Accounts Assistant position

  • Be 25 years and above
  • Have a Minimum of a C plain at KCSE
  • Completed a minimum of CPA II, Bachelor’s degree in accounting is added advantage
  • Have at least 1 year relevant experience
  • Proficiency in computer packages
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A person of high integrity
  • Holder of valid certificate of good conduct (Mandatory).

We are currently interested in a young dynamic and results driven candidate who is passionate about developing his/her research skills and experience in practical statistics, monitoring and evaluation.

Key Roles / Responsibilities

  • Handling office administration duties.
  • Preparing monthly accounts statements.
  • Oversee debtors and creditors and ensure the reconciliation of their balances.
  • Maintain cheque payment summary.
  • Maintain the petty cash.
  • Do monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Maintain cheque payment summary.
  • Confirm supplier invoices entered in system Knowledge and submissions of all statutory returns such as PAYE, VAT etc.
  • Maintain monthly expenses & vat schedule Post expenses in system Post monthly customer withholding vat that is claimed
  • Procurement of goods and services including pre-qualification of suppliers.
  • Preparing monthly operational plans drawn from the work plan.
  • Preparing Payroll, NSSF, PAYE and NHIF.
  • Accounting duties: Maintaining accounting records, processing payments for suppliers, consultants (Trainers, others), bills and updating the accounting system.
  • To perform any other duties that may be assigned by the management from time to time.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance or Accounting
  • CPA 3 and above
  • Proficient in QuickBooks.
  • At least 3years’ experience in a busy organization
  • Experience in designing databases is an added advantage.
  • Must be able to deliver under strict deadlines and handle pressure effectively.
  • Must be 30 years and above

  • Visa reconciliations.

  • Any other report as may be required.

Key Skills and Competencies:

  • Degree in Accounting/Finance/ Commerce.
  • Conversant with QuickBooks accounting software.
  • 2 years’ experience in a busy environment.
  • CPA K or Minimum CPA section 2.
  • Analytical and good in numbers.
  • Good command of English.
  • Team player.
  • Work under minimum supervision.
