  • Actively merchandise retail products and recommend to customers at the end of their service.
  • Learn the various retail products and make recommendations to clients.
  • Ensure the physical inventory of products in the retail shelf, record stock take figures.
  • Awareness of the trends in the hair and nail industry.
  • Schedule weekly staff meeting to keep abreast with issues at hand.
  • Solve problems, seek solutions.
  • Keep updated records of every incident within the salon.
  • Ensure clients are offered a drink, or magazine of choice at an appropriatetime.
  • Actively take attractive pictures at the end of services using salon phone for marketing purposes.these will be posted online to attract fan-base.
  • Adapt to business operations and salon industry behaviour.
  • Order supplies on time, ensure suppliers deliver correct orders.
  • Willing to learn fast without coercion. Self-driven personality.
  • Ensure salon hygiene standards are maintained.
  • Manage staff attendance by synching days off / unplanned absence.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Sales & Marketing qualification.
  • Previous experience in sales, customer care and administration.
  • Experience in salon/spa environment a plus.
  • Exhibit a “Can-Do” positive attitude
  • Microsoft Word and Excel computer skills
  • Basic Computer troubleshooting skills: eg running antivirus
  • Facebook posting skills.
  • Professional phone presence and dress code

Context: Under the overall coordination of the Head of IOM Kenya Country Office and the direct supervision of the Programme Manager of Immigration and Border Management in Nairobi, the successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the coordination, implementation, monitoring of and reporting on activities under IOM Kenya’s Immigration and Border Management, Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) and Counter Trafficking projects.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the technical and administrative implementation of Immigration and Border Management, Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) and Counter Trafficking projects.
  • Serve as the focal point for AVRR and Counter Trafficking in Kenya, under guidance of RTS and Programme Manager.
  • Maintain the project-related correspondence and progress, technical reports, visibility and communication material and other relevant background documents.
  • Draft reports and formal correspondence and assist in dissemination to relevant counterparts.
  • Monitor status of project, compile, summarize and present information/data on activities and submit reports on a regular basis.
  • Assist the Programme Manager in providing technical support to increase the capacity of relevant implementing partners engaged in the implementation of outreach, advocacy and awareness component.
  • Maintain updates and compiles project documentation, including payment request and similar routine project documentation for the projects.
  • Undertake duty travel related for project implementation.
  • Represent IOM at meetings and conferences relevant to the project in the region, as assigned by RTS and the Programme Manager.
  • Liaise with partner agencies and ministries, relevant to the project as directed.
  • Organize and arrange conferences and/or training sessions related to the projects.
  • Assist in drafting new projects, in particular in relation to Counter Trafficking.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Required Qualifications and Experience


  • Completed Bachelor’s degree from an accredited academic institution, preferably in Political or Social Science, International Relations and/or Law with three years’ experience or
  • Completed High School/Certificate with five years’ experience


  • Professional experience in project assistance or project implementation in international donor funded projects;
  • Experience in contributing to drafting project documents and reports;
  • Familiarity with issues of migration, border management and counter trafficking;
  • Work experience in IOM, a UN agency, non-governmental organization, or international organization is required;
  • Extensive experience in liaison and cooperation with governmental authorities and UN partners is required;
  • Excellent writing and communication skills in English;
  • Good level of computer literacy, including database applications.

Languages: Excellent command of spoken and written English and Kiswahili.

Child Safeguarding:

Level 3: the role holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work in country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.


To work with the Management Coordinator works directly and closely and with the Country Director and the Deputy Country Director indirectly in managing and developing programme and business processes systems and procedures.

Save the Children works in all regions of Somalia/Somaliland with a current staff complement of approximately 350 staff and current expenditure of approximately $ 45 million each year.

Provide support to Country Director and/or take full responsibilities of Country Office Management system and SCI Global Management Tool

· Managing the SMT tracking tool for the Global Assurance Internal Audit recommendations, KPMG year-end (Statutory) recommendations, Country Office Risk Register and Key Performance Indicators and ensuring that the deadlines are tracked and followed up

· Ensuring that departments listed in the tracking tool have departmental improvement plans which reflect the action plans and recommendations listed

· Preparation of monthly and quarterly CD reports to the Regional Office for CD approval

· Coordination and reporting on the Country Office achievement against the Global Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to be included in the report above.

· Ensuring that departments, offices and programmes have their own departmental KPIs, dashboards and tracking tables, report and follow up on them, and ensuring that key indicators feed into the SMT dashboard- limited # of KPI

· Preparing for the senior meetings, including SLT, SMT, ESMT with a full pack of updates from different departments; including progress made against various action plan trackers. Also take lead in coordination of all these meetings and preparing the agenda

· Coordination of MEAL Action Plan Tracker and ensuring that key findings from the tracker and serious issues are highlighted to members of senior management team.

· Ensuring that the timelines and action plans of the Country Office Risk Register (RR), programme, field offices and departmental risk assessments and annual risk mitigation plans are followed up, preparing quarterly reports on progress and working with Internal Audit to ensure that they are updated annually

· Coordination, monitoring and reporting on the Non Award Funding

· Ensuring all the documents that come for CD sign off, have all necessary supporting document. In case some documents are missing then follow up with the relevant department and ensure that all compliance requirements for a sign off are fully completed.

· Preparing occasional correspondence with external actors for the Country Director

· Ensuring that all relevant documents and program updates are furnished in advance for any external meetings that CD and DCDs have, particularly when meeting with donors. Liaise with different departments, mostly awards, finance and operations to prepare such updates.

· Ensure CD’s calendar is well managed and updated regularly, provide necessary support to CD for travels, meetings, other administrative chores etc.

Other responsibilities

· Follows up on any Operations and PDQ related issues at the request of and CD/DCDs

· Coordinates the schedule of relevant internal and external programmes, operations, coordination and cluster meetings that involves SMT. Ensures that all the meetings are prepared in a very coordinated manner and documented

· Ensures that minutes, papers, action points and notes from meetings are collected, compiled and centrally filed both in soft and hard copies

· Develops, collects, ensures the accuracy and distribution of maps and summary information indicating who does what and where (3Ws), both for SCI and for other agencies

· Complies with all relevant Save the Children policies and procedures with respect to child protection, health and safety, security, equal opportunities and other relevant policies.

· Identify suitable members from business and supporting institutions like government, donors, academia, etc. and invite them to join the Community of Practice (CoP) in collaboration with the Project Manager, Marketplace for Nutritious foods

· Design training programs in collaboration with the Project Manager, Marketplace for Nutritious Foods

· Engage relevant, high caliber speakers and relevant experts for training

· Set up and manage training/ speaking events, etc.

· Actively exchange knowledge and experience with the other project officers in the other Marketplace countries

· Actively contribute to knowledge management in the Kenya team as well as the whole of GAIN

· Design and oversee GAIN/Marketplace presence in local events, such as agribusiness fairs and trade shows.

· Contribute with stories to the global GAIN homepage/ other publications where relevant in collaboration with the GAIN communications team

· In collaboration with the GAIN communications team and the Project Manager, Marketplace for Nutritious Foods, achieve outreach for GAIN and the Marketplace by providing information, stories, press releases, etc. to the media · In collaboration with the GAIN communications team, design Marketplace promotional materials (brochures, flyers)

Compile photographs of CoP events and Innovation Accelerator candidates/grantees, and project activities

· Oversee communications on Innovation Accelerator, where applicable. For example: Announcement of call for proposals, communications with candidates, etc.

· Track and document Community of Practice activities in accordance with GAIN and donor reporting.

· Other tasks related to the implementation of the Marketplace as required by the GAIN Kenya Marketplace lead.
